What an idyllic setting! I absolutely LOVE your Adirondack chairs. “If” I don’t win a set of my own I will probable buy them this summer. I’ve been wanting to build a built in fire pit in my yard with adirondacks around it. .
The directions are fairly clear. The pieces have stamped on them individual numbers (i.e., C5) which helps things move along a little quicker.
After 20 years of wanting, thinking and dreaming of owning comfy Adirondack chairs, his dream has finally been fulfilled – and on Earth Day too (April 22!) which is perfect since POLYWOOD is made from over 90% plastic bottle waste (keeping it out of landfills).

1) Wood vs “Polywood” plastic— I was surprised at how much the polywood just felt like cheap plastic. However, it has held up over the summer really well as it still looks brand new. So I would buy the polywood/synthetic plastic again over wood.

Rattan is not meant to be used outdoors for the long term under any condition. Rattan, just like most natural materials, is going to degrade much faster outdoors vs indoors. This might confuse some people because rattan furniture is seen being used outdoors in old photographs. The thing is, people liked using their rattan furniture outdoors, but it wouldn’t be kept outdoors. People would take the furniture out just for the day and then bring it back inside. It would never be kept outdoors.

Wood is the traditional choice for Adirondack chairs, going back to the late 1800s. When properly maintained, wood can look gorgeous, and give a classic flair. However, the reality is that keeping your wooden Adirondack chairs in good shape takes work! Sanding, painting, staining, cleaning, patching broken slats, etc. are all painful.
